Yoga and the brain: how short practices improve cognitive function

01 янв, 10:10

New research confirms that short sessions of Hatha yoga can have a significant impact on cognitive function. In an experiment involving 20-minute sessions with lying, sitting and standing poses, scientists found improvements in attention, memory and speed of information processing.

These results were more impressive compared to those after aerobic exercise. Volunteers participated in the sessions under the strict supervision of safety medics.

The changes were particularly striking in the women who practiced yoga. Their accuracy and speed of information processing far surpassed the results after traditional aerobic exercise. Breathing exercises and meditation, an important part of the practice, promoted relaxation, and focusing on breathing and body posture helped to eliminate excess thoughts, facilitating cognitive processes.

These new findings emphasize the effectiveness of yoga not only for physical well-being but also for mental well-being. Short sessions can be a simple and affordable way to improve your brain function, which is important in today's fast-paced lifestyle.
