  • Fruits can be both healthy and dangerous
    Опубликовано: 2025-11-24 10:10:13

Summer is traditionally considered the season for fruits and fresh vegetables, especially when we want to detoxify our bodies. Bright apples, ripe apricots, juicy peaches, and watermelons are enticing not only for their flavor but also for their rich vitamin content. However, beyond their nutritional benefits, fruits can harbor a hidden danger—the toxic substances they contain.

The main source of this danger is nitrates and nitrites, which enter plants from soil and water. Excessive use of nitrogen fertilizers, insufficient sunlight, or excessive watering contribute to the accumulation of these chemical compounds in fruits. Nitrates and nitrites can cause serious illnesses, including stomach cancer, cardiovascular damage, and nervous system problems. Children under one year of age are especially sensitive to them.

Particular attention should be paid to melons and gourds—watermelons and melons. These fruits actively accumulate toxic substances, and visually identifying a dangerous product is virtually impossible. Experts advise buying them no earlier than mid-August, giving preference to fruits grown in the right conditions, and always asking for quality documents.

Apples and other common fruits also require careful selection. It's best to choose domestic varieties, paying attention to the absence of blemishes, dark spots, and signs of damage. Bananas should be uniformly yellow, without green or brown stems, and peaches and apricots should be soft to the touch with velvety skin.

Proper storage and seasonality are equally important. Fruits are best consumed fresh and only during their natural ripening period. This reduces the risk of accumulation of harmful substances and preserves the maximum amount of beneficial vitamins and minerals.

Finally, people with chronic illnesses should exercise caution. Bananas are contraindicated for those with vein problems, citrus fruits and pears are contraindicated for those with gastrointestinal disorders, and diabetics should limit sweet fruits such as watermelons, apricots, and peaches. Following these rules helps you get the benefits of fruits without putting your health at risk.
